Over the weekend one of my friends Monique got married. We were excited to go and get to see and Aussie wedding. This wedding was not a typical wedding though, her parents are from Vietnam, so it had an Asian flare, and he has Italian roots, and those got to show through.
Josh thought it was funny that after I got ready, I made the bed. Hey, I was trying to make the best of time, and he wasn't ready yet. Ok, so back to the main event, the wedding.
The wedding started at 3:30. The ceremony was a lot like an American ceremony, but had a time in the middle of the service to take pictures of the bride and groom and sign their paperwork. I really thought the license part was a neat touch, and the timeout to let people take pictures really created a time so everyone could get their pictures without holding their phones up during the actual service. After the wedding they went and took pictures, we were on our own until 5:30. With it being around 100 degrees in Brisbane on this day. I didn't really care where we went, AC was my ONLY requirement. At 5:30 it was cocktails and photo booth. As you can see we had fun with the photo booth.
Around 7:00 we were invited into the hall to have a sit down dinner. The meal was amazing. In between the courses they played Asian wedding games, gave speeches, walked around, and some danced. As soon as the last course was given, everyone got up an danced. It was so much fun. Not a couple people joined the dace floor, EVERYONE got out of their chair and danced. While everyone was dancing another round of food, cheese and crackers came out. Needless to say we were not in the least bit hungry at this wedding.
At around 10:00 Monique went for a dress change, and more dancing went on. I really liked how everyone stayed and enjoyed the wedding. It really made the day not over so fast. All and all the wedding festivities lasted from 3:30 until around midnight, where many went to the afterparty and kept dancing. If you know me at all though, I turn into a pumpkin around 9:00. I did really good this night though and lasted until 11:15.
It was so much fun and we are so blessed to get to be a part of your big day. Thank you so much for included us and getting to see a true Aussie wedding with flare. I am so blessed by your friendship and can't wait for you to get back from your seven week honeymoon exploring parts of Central, South, and North America! I know many memories will be made! What is a fun wedding memory you have as a guest of a wedding?
