One Saturday morning we woke up and decided to go see Lake Moogerah. I have a list of places around Brisbane I want to see. So, we decided to cross this one off the list. It was very pretty, and a good day trip from Brisbane. We just did not go straight there. It took us a full 24 hours to get there.....
We stopped at the little town before the lake for a coffee, and were talking to the shop workers. They told us that there was a huge festival about 1.5 hours down the road. They said it was the 50th anniversary and only happens once every two years. As we walked to the car we discussed going, but then decided we could not get a room in Stanthorpe where the festival was. We knew we couldn't drive it in a day, because the road is really not safe at night with the kangaroos and curvy. As soon we got back in the car, I checked for a room. Yeah, no rooms in the town, but if we drove 40 minutes past the town there was. The town was Tenterfield and if we stayed in Tenterfield, I could cross off two more things from my list.
Well, we decided to book it. As soon as we drove into Stanthorpe we went and bought a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a slip. I had brought a cover up for our day at the lake, and decided the cheapest option was just make it a dress.
The festival was great, the memories were fun, and I am so glad we just went! We ended up going to The Grape and Apple Festival, Tenerfield, Bald Rock, and driving on Falls Trail.
We even did a little dirt road driving, and got to use the handy dandy car wash bay in our garage. I would say buying a car was a great idea!
Is there a weekend you have ever just decided to change all of your plans last minute?
