How can I even start to explain the beauty of a beach that is voted the number one beach in the world most years? This 98% silica 9 km long white beach is the beach you see when you see pictures of Australia. The best thing? There is no resorts on it. The only way you can spend the night is camping at the great price of around $6.00 a night. Yeah! you read that correctly. One of the top beaches in the world you can camp at for that price.
Christmas carols and lights, brisk air and fires- this is the setting of an American December. Shopping and church services, ceaseless wracking of the brain to discern the best gift for each family member, endless cocktail parties... Jake and I decided to give ourselves a slightly different present for this Christmas. We booked a plane ticket halfway around the world and set our schedules for two weeks off work, and went to explore an Australian summer, a Christmas season in shorts, and most importantly, re-unite two brothers who have spent two years apart.
I let time get away from me this year.....SO.....Here is our Christmas card.
Sorry you can't hang it on your fridge.
Our prayer for you this Christmas is you and your family are blessed
with many memories,
and you make the most out of every moment.
The first island I am going to share from the WhitSundays is Hamilton Island. This is a private island that the famous people all come and relax. Don't worry they have accommodation for the normal people like us, also. We chose a Hamilton Island Home as our accommodation. They were running a special when I booked, and ended up being a great deal! Our two bedroom house included an amazing view, golf cart, and all non-motorized water sports.
Everyone we told we were flying into Hamilton Island, told us how beautiful it was. I had my camera ready and was not disappointed! As soon as we took off we got a tour of the CBD Brisbane, and a fly over of our home.
Now, we have gone to Straddie before. This was my third trip. We have taken Mom, Dad, and sent Aunt Becky and Mom. This time it was different, we decided to rent a car and explore on our own.
First off, let me start with we have always been fans of Lone Pine. We will still be fans, but let me apologize to everyone who we have not taken to the Australia Zoo. Wow! You have missed out. No, there were not as many kangaroos, but I would say they made up for it with everything else.
