Every year is the same, it turns November, and everyone starts stressing. Do not stress about what is under the tree. That is not what matters. Now, do not get me wrong. Still give something, but do not give things. Give Memories! Give time with the people you care about. Give things that do not have to be dusted, cleaned, or moved around. Give things that are stored in your brain. I recently typed a post about gift giving for giving people, but I understand that many people really want to actually have a gift under the tree that spoils the person you love. Here are some ideas.
I mean who doesn't want to have a dinner out, where the person doesn't have to cook, clean, shop for or plan? Food, is a need, you are just making the need meet in a fun way. Everyone eats, but this gift can make it a special. Pick somewhere that would be a great place to talk, have fun, or great place to make memories.
Now this is a little more expensive and takes a little more planning, but I personally can say this is a great gift. As a teenager many years my Christmas gifts was a trip skiing. When I graduated college my gift was a trip to hike The Grand Canyon. When I turned 30 Josh and my Mom planned a surprise trip to see Niagara Falls. Those are great memories and didn't have a "thing" I can loose or feel guilty when I had to sell it because we moved around the world. This could be a small trip day trip or a grand vacation. It is whatever you want to plan.
The picture above we did for Josh's birthday two birthday's ago. While we have been pretty lucky to do a lot of adventures, we really enjoying doing an adventure for our birthday. Last year for my birthday we went hiking and played in a waterfall. This does not have to be expensive thing, just something that will make an impact to make a memory. Got you thinking yet?
Who doesn't love some quiet relaxing time? Who doesn't love some girl time? This combines it all. This can be something you send your family/friend on their own, you two together, or plan it with their friends and give them some friend time. I don't think any girl would complain.
Now, My grandmother is one of the hardest people to buy for. My Dad and I know that she always gets her hair done though. Why not give her something that she is going to use? They get to save their haircut money and spend it on something else. Let's be honest, when you go get your haircut it is also a little pampering.
When you think give memories instead of things, the sky is the limit. You can think of anything. There is so many things you can do with the people you love. Living this far away from family, time together really matters. Enjoy your friends and family, take time to make memories with them. What are some ways you make memories with your family and friends?
