So somehow my, "see you later tour," has turned into a lot of girls weekends. Frankly, I LOVE IT! This weekend Laura (my running partner, gym manager, and friend), Di (Josh's co-worker, my room-mate, and friend), and I all went down to Girraween, Bald Rock, Falls trail, Stanthrope for the weekend.
This weekend was even more special, because these two Aussie girls got to be introduced to an area of Australia this American had fallen in love with. I had so much fun being the tour guide to two locals. It was the best Autumn drive, although we did miss the beautiful leaf colors by about two weeks. I found the cutest Airbnb, that even had hot, right out of the oven, rolls and a fire lit for us when we got there. The first day we drove through The Falls Drive, then just played card games in our house. Laura brought a wonderful game that was called Jungle Speed. I was not very good at all!
The next morning we woke up and let the hiking begin. We hiked a little over ten miles, 98 floors, and 22,000 steps. (Can you tell someone had their fitness tracker on) We hiked Bald Rock then drove to Girraween and hiked Castle Rock and Pyramid
We had fun climbing all the rocks, taking funny pictures, talking, getting our heart rate up, taking layers off and on, and looking at the amazing views.
Just like I said in the post before, I am so lucky to have found such amazing friends in the short time I have lived in Australia. Everyone of my friends makes me a better person, and I am so happy to have them in my life. I can not imagine Australia without any of them. Yes, Australia really has amazing things to see in the country, but honestly the people we have met here, is what have made the country.
So as we start the balancing act of starting our new life, I am leaving Australia with a happy heart because all of the people who have touched me and made my time here so wonderful.
I have around twenty days left in this amazing country, I still have a lot to check off the old bucket list and amazing people to do it with.
