How about taking a two hour morning horse back ride in lush white sand mixed with fools gold in the Coral Sea in the the Pacific Ocean? Uh, no question! Of course, we hooked up with “Ride the Beach Adventures” for an intimate ride that included five tourists and two guides. The ranch offers several different adventures to suit your fancy. The trainers matched horses to riders and gave us pointers on riding. After a few minutes through the ranch, we were at the beach. Horse back riding in the water was every bit as exciting as I had dreamed. This was the third time I had ridden on the beach but the first time I had actually gotten to get in the water. The Australian saddles were easy to sit in and for the most part comfortable. They don't use western saddles with horns to hold on to, they say that is cheating. The horses were easy to ride and with a little practice we learned their ways. The weather was cool, breezy and the sun shined with vigor. The guides pointed out various islands, Port Douglas, and shared interesting side notes of the history of the land and its people.
Two workers (bus driver and one of the guides) were at the farm to fulfill a three month requirement to work in agriculture for the second year of their working holiday visa. The young man was from the UK and girl was from Germany. As with so many people, Mamma enjoyed hearing their stories, background and family history.
The price was $110au for a two hour tour, but that is almost half price to all the places we have looked at previously. The people were nice, the environment was amazing, and I recommend this to everyone! We had so much fun just relaxing on the beach with our small group and the horses. Wonderful day! Where is your favorite place you have ridden horses?
