"Even the wind and the waves obey him"
What would it take to stop the momentum of a wave? A storm? Waves take a long time of wind and momentum to make waves and God says stop, and the stop. How strong is our God?
Have you ever had momentum with your life And all the sudden God says stop? This is a message to myself as much as anyone else.
You have a calling in your life. Your life exists for God, for a bigger picture. You will hear the voice of the Lord, "This is the way, go for it!" There is a great purpose for you. He has called you by name.
"I have plans for you". Do you obey when He is calling? Are you obeying Him?
"If you love me you will keep my command"...ouch doesn't that verse hurt? This is a compile of the last three Sermons I have heard. Ever felt God is speaking to you? When you hear the same message three times, it really makes me think, "wow! I need to be more obedient and listen." So here is what my heart is thinking at the moment.
1. When you obey you Strengthen your trust in the Father. Obedience strengthens your love, you relationship,
God Might not have time to explain we need to trust protect ourself from disaster. We need protection. He is there giving you guidance even when you don't listen but could have avoided a disaster. The best analogy with this would be parents. How many times did your parents say no? Then you would get mad and ask why. Then the dreaded, "Just trust me." would follow. Looking back at the "just trust me," I totally can see now my parents just wanted what was best for me, and sometimes, didn't have time to explain.
2. God never promised it would be easy. When we obey we strengthen our surrender to the Son
Christianity was never meant to be safe comfortable and easy. We are told to take up our cross daily and follow him. Was it easy for Jesus to take his cross? He wants us to do it daily. We are called to do,think, watch, live, speak, love, and how he tells us to. Let that sink in. Daily we are to live, love, speak, think, do, and live like God. Not sure about you, but there are things in my life that slip through that are not God like.
3. When we obey we Strengthen our sensitivity to Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is in you and with you. Spirit of truth comforter counselor. Isn't that so comforting? He is telling is to obey, but doesn't not leave us alone, we have part of him living in us.
Are you obeying?
*disclaimer - I am in no way perfect! I have been hungry for some "meaty" time with God, and writing my own devotionals. I really needed theses words, I figured someone else could benefit and decided to share. I have decided to share my thoughts, enjoy, take to heart, do whatever you want with it.
