Weather it be at the Outback Steak House or an Aussie travel commercial, we have all see pictures of the iconic surf shacks. These have been an Aussie icon for over 50 years, and continue to attract visitors like us. Passing by each one you think of the stories they could tell as you from the layers of paint matted on to the siding. As you can see each one has its own personality along with its owners personality painted all over.
We could not help but to stop and take a pic or two as you can see. One of the tenant owners gave us a good laugh as he said, "I bought mine when it was first built, not sure why anyone would pay that for this box. You can sit on the beach for free or you can have your own box for $250,000" The only thing you get is just the shack and no exclusive rights to the beach in front of it, most don't have power, and none had water. What they lack in amenities they make up with their bright colors give the beach a lot of character.
What is an icon you think of when thinking about Australia?
