Wow, it was a great weekend. We started with heading to EAT Street.
IN THE RAIN... No one was there!
Usually all those seats are packed, but the band still played, it wasn't that cold, and the food was good. We sang and danced in the rain.
Saturday, was Josh's actual birthday day. I had planned pretty much everything outside for the weekend, since it hadn't rained at all for two months.
Josh kept telling me, he just wanted a day inside watching movies, but I mean who really could want that?
I had a dinner boat ride that night, and a bridge climb and rappel during the day...... Well, Josh got his wish I guess.
It rained, ALL day Saturday. We went to the library and got free movies. Everything had to be moved to a different day.
Sunday was beautiful, we went climbing and rappelling.
The bridge we climbed
They made us take off our rings, ear rings, bobby pins, watches, anything that could possible drop. The picture was before they waved a metal detector over us, to see if we were hiding anything.
They said that we couldn't drop anything and be a distraction to the drivers. Never mind every driver that went under us was waving like a mad person. I think just our presence on the bridge was a distraction, but that is beside the point.
After we climbed the bridge, we came off the top, a little lower, and rappelled down.
It was a lot of fun. I always sign Josh and me up for this stuff. I am the cheerleader up until the point. Josh is the person that doesn't want to do the adventure until the actual time.
When the actual time comes, we totally role flip. I get nervous and he becomes the person ready to do whatever adventure I have signed us up for this time.
We work well together in this sense.
After the climb we walked around in the park listening to music. It is amazing to me, it seems like no matter the time or day, there is always live music at every park.
We saw a forklift that looked like he had ran into the bank
Saw a houseboat, that was literally that, a house boat.
And....I found a Dr. Pepper. All while walking around waiting for church time.
Now, I have told you about church here already. We go to Hillsong, which the campus that is closest to our house is in a night club. We heard a good sermon.
1. Our God will open doors- Called to be the head, not the tail. Rev 3:8-10
2. Tests will come - "What is not tested, can not be trusted." - Jesus himself was tested, out in the wilderness after being baptized. Matthew 3:16-17 BUT after he went through the testing he was filled with the Holy Spirit. Luke 4:14
3. Together you will OVERCOME - John 16:33 - Do not look at obstacles, look at opportunities.
Here is where the awesome part of church happened though, after the sermon they read verses about being cheerful and full. They said, "let's move the chairs and dance..... we are in a night club."
They only moved the first two rows, so who ever wanted could join in the dancing. It was so neat. The service was two hours long. At the end they had an encore for more songs. The only reason the service ended was the singers needed a break.
The atmosphere was amazing. It was not like a "Holy Roller" thing where people where passing out or anything. It was like going to a Christian Concert. When church was over, everyone just stood there and looked at each other. No one wanted to leave. Everyone walked out of church singing and dancing. It was a really neat sight.
We had a pretty awesome weekend, yet again I found something else to add to the list of things to take visitors to.
This honestly is starting to feel like home....if we could just get our friends and family over here.
