During our trip to Darwin we took a tour on what seemed like a harmless river....
Our guide for the day Pat was raised in around the river and was very in touch with the nature side of the area.
The picture above Pat is describing facts about the crocs, while showing us the items he had found with bite marks in them. He said crocs bite and then decide what to do. They take a "taste test" of everything. Supposedly on this river is the only place in the world where tourist can get on a boat and watch these amazing creatures jump for food that Pat was holding over the side of the boat for him. Pat told us only four companies in the area even have the permit.
To say we were amazed by the shear power of this animal is an understatement. The sound they would make when they clamped down was crazy. After Pat gave out all our bait we headed back to the dock, spotting more crocs and cool birds on the way.
Once back on dry land we were treated to a very Aussie treat of Lamington, and shown more things they had bitten and heads he had found.
I would say it was a very fun trip, and Pat kept us very informed the entire time about the area, animals, mixed in with many facts and strong opinions.
