Australians love a good reason to celebrate. While Mamma was here we got to celebrate Riverfire. This being our first time to experience Riverfire, Mamma, Josh, and I decided to enjoy it on a boat, and not fight the crowds. The thoughts of public transportation, and all the people just made sick. So, I found a boat that picked up by our house. This wharf is literally two blocks from our house.
We didn't think about the long lines to get on the boat....oops. They said be there at 4:00. We got there at 3:45, and were at the end of the line. Don't worry though, if you know my Mamma and Josh, they pushed our way to a great spot on the boat.
Odd fact: We loaded our boat at the wharf that Queen Elizabeth boarded a boat named Pure Adrenaline in 2011. We even parked by Pure Adrenaline during Riverfire. So it was just Royal treatment, all around. Yeah right!
While riding the boat into town, Mamma and Josh danced, of course.
After asking a lot of the locals, "What is Riverfire?" This is what I came up with. It is a reason to have a celebration, show off the Air Force, and final celebration of the month long Brisbane Festival. Whatever the reason, it was amazing.
We did have a chuckle at the "Brisbane Redneck Yacht Club."
We had choppers and planes fly all around right before sun down and impress us with all their talent.
The helicopters went sideways down the river. They got really close, and waved. They waved their guns to the crowd. The planes went fast, high, and put on a great show. It was really neat. They were so close, we felt like we were part of the air show.
After the Air Force had done their bit, we went inside the Brisbane Whale Watching boat and had a wonderful dinner. The Brisbane Whale Watching group really were great all evening. Would book with them again. I would recommend doing Riverfire in a boat any day.
Our belly's were full, and we were ready for the next show.
What a show it was. None of us had ever seen a firework show with a big city as the background. It was a thirty minutes long amazing spectacle. They had fireworks everywhere. We felt like country came to town.
They had fireworks off the bridge, off buildings around the city, and off ferries that were all over the river.
The neat thing was, all the different locations were shooting off the same fireworks. It was a very well orchestrated show. We were glad it was so well planned. We saw this as we rode the boat into town. Do you see the funny in this picture?
Let me zoom in for you.
It was the best night, and we were so glad we got to experience Riverfire with such a fun atmosphere.
What is a festival you have that is unique to your area?
