On our spontaneous weekend, we stayed in a cute little town in New South Whales. The picture above is how I spent a lot of our trip. There was so much to see, so many things I wanted to take pictures of.
The history packed Tenterfield is about 3 and a half hours from Brisbane, if you drive straight there, but we were in the mood to explore. It took us all day to get there, and about five hours to get home. The small town of 3,500 brags they they are the birthplace of Australia. Tenterfield is the home of Sir Henry Parkes who delivered the famous Federation Speech, which led to the federation of Australia in 1901 at the Tenterfield School of Arts. Tenterfield is also home to the famous actor/dancer Perter Allen, who was married to Liza Minnelli.
The area of Tenterfield is surrounded by tons of national parks and amazing things to see. I do not think I will ever get use to just seeing kangaroos and wallabies just chilling around us. We took a drive, that only locals really know about to see all the huge rock formations right as the sun was rising.
Tenterfield was absolutely amazing. It is full of history, great people, nature, and that wonderful small town feeling.
Tenterfield was a great little town to really get us out of city life for a bit. Tenterfield was a great, but the drive to and there also made the trip perfect. We loved it and would recommended to anyone in Brisbane looking for a little fun adventure. What is a good little town close to you to get away?
