Since we are SO far away from family and should only really close on Thanksgiving day... Josh and I compromised, we closed Thursday and Friday and drove up to Savannah, GA for an amazing southern Thanksgiving.
Can you tell I loved our Airbnb? It was amazing. Here is the link if you want to book it. It was perfect location, great "homey" feel and just what we needed to sleep in and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
We walked a total of ten miles on Thanksgiving day. We watched a little of the parade, but just wanted to go out and explore. We walked to a local coffee spot, got a map, and headed out. I bought a book on Amazon with all the history and things, but to be honest, I didn't read it. After hitting the ground running months ago, and not a lot of downtime. the book was too much stress, we just needed to wander around lost and admire all the charm of the town. I guess we need to go back to learn about all the history of this town. I was just in awe of all the old southern charm. It was amazing. I only took about 150 pictures for the two nights we were away. I loved all the colors and charm. It had been WAY TOO long since we have experienced fall. This trip was all the colors of fall, but the heat like we have grown used to, it was around 80 all day.
It is safe to say we will be back. I can not believe I have never been to this town before. It was just what we needed, a new place to explore, but in a totally relaxed atmosphere. No, it wasn't a family Thanksgiving, but it was rest, exploring, and just spending time together. This year, we are thankful for just that.
