Typical Days in Brisbane

9/10/2014

I post fun things on here, but that is not what we do everyday.  So here is a glance at our "daily life."

Picture

Josh, goes to work around 6:00 am everyday, and most days works late. He rides the city cat (ferry) or bus to work.

My life is a lot different in Brisbane, while I am waiting on my paperwork to be approved so I can teach in Queensland.  Their website says it can take up to 12 weeks to get approved.  We are currently on week 12.  Hopefully I can change this routine soon, but until then, here is my typical week.

First, wake up and make my bed, because someone might visit, (HA! I make the bed because it is a habit my Mamma made when I was a kid)

Next, I go and workout.  This Anytime Fitness is like a mile from our house.

I do my free Nike Training Club App, in this area.

After I work out I usually go run, I mean who wouldn't want to run with this view?  I just miss all my running buddies.  I live on wrong side of river for every runner I have met so far.

Honestly, when it was "cold" I was not as good about running as I should.  I would go workout, and then go get a Chai Latte from this local favorite.

After I workout, I do different things each day.

Monday-

I usually catch the bus in to town and do what I need to get done for the week.

Lately, I have also used this time to go to Flight Center, to plan activities for Mamma when she comes in September, Dad when he comes in December, and deciding where Josh and I want to go on an upcoming trip.  Any suggestions?  Josh is really leaning toward Cambodia.

They still use travel agents, it is really nice to actually talk to someone and not just type my information into kayak.com

Then I usually go to Starbucks, drink an orange drink, read my book, and wait on Josh to leave work.  That way we can ride back to Hamilton together.

Tuesday -

Tuesday is $2.00 day.  I go to the next town over and workout on Tuesday at Lorna Jane. Lorna Jane is a lot like Lulu Lemon, and offers classes like they do.  The classes are $2.00, I do two classes.  Abs and butt and Strength and Stretch.

A group of American girls meet, go to the classes, then go across the shopping center, and enjoy $2.00 taco day.

After that, I go home and read.

I am really lucky to have a library literally a block from our house.  I go to the book store, pick out the books I want to read, go online, put a hold on them, and they are delivered from the big library to our small library.  I would love some book recommendations from you.

Wednesday -

I wake up early on Wednesday.  I go to boxing class at Anytime Fitness.  Then ride the ferry across the river.

Where I meet Jodie.  Josh and Jodie's husband Tim work together.  Jodie has welcomed me into her running club.  I run with the club every Wednesday.  We go to Mt. Gravett and run trails for around an hour.

Picture

After we run, we have coffee together.  I think everyone enjoys the run, but really looks forward to the coffee break at the top, and enjoys the amazing view.

Picture

Of course a day I missed, they saw a wild koala.  Would you ever say wild koala?  I guess a calm, but free koala.

Picture

Then, I go home and read.  Have I mentioned I read  and workout a lot?

Thursday -

I go to Lorna Jane again and do a circuit class.

Picture

After the class I go into central Brisbane and eat lunch with people from church.

Picture

Usually I go home after this, and go for a short run by the river, just to enjoy the view.

Picture

Oh, then I go home, and you guessed it.  READ!

Friday -

I have never not had a job, so this has really been an adjustment.  I am really praying that my paperwork gets passed through the system soon.

I pick up Josh's clothes from the cleaners.  I ruined one of his suits right after we got married.  He hasn't trusted me since.

Picture

Then I just look for something else to get into.

A lot of days I have to go to the Post Office.  You can not mail things from your personal mailbox in Australia.  You have to take it to a red box, or to the Post Office.  We still get a lot of mail that is not for us, so I have to take it to Post Office to Return to Sender.

Picture

At the end of everyday, Josh comes home and we cook dinner together.

On Sunday we go to the market and get out food for the week, and prepare our food from fresh food everyday.  I really enjoy eating better.

It may sound like a boring week, but I always tend to find things to fill my time.  Honestly, I do not spend much time at all bored.  I really enjoy it here, and spending my time in Australia just enjoying life.  I am always telling Josh, "Look, we live here...in Australia."

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse into our daily life.
